A public Internet access, e.g. in restaurants, clubs, youths centers etc., can be realized via DSL and WLAN by means of the alpha^® payLAN. The payment for the period of use is effected easily directly at the face with coins. The charges per minute for the account can be defined and programmed by the operator of the alpha^® payLAN himself.

The acces to alpha^® payLAN by the user can for example take place via a notebook that is equipped for WLAN. The user pays in advance for the account-time by inserting coins. After paying and demanding the ticket, the user gets a voucher which contains the information that is important for the access such as:

• name of location

• date and time of handing out

• paid amount

• duration of access

• data for access (ESSID, password)

The paid account is valid 24 hours until the first login of the user. The user gets access to the Internet after login via a standard browser and a respective portal. After the login, the paid time - visible for the user in a window - for the access elapses. After lapse of the paid time, the access to the HotSpot is automatically disconnected and the account is deleted. Up to 16 users of alpha^® payLAN can be administered at the same time.
